Dear Friends,
About 24 hours after hitting “publish” on that last post, I gave birth to our second little boy. His name is Isaac, and as you may have already guessed: he’s the perfect baby. (I’m actually in the middle of writing up the birth story, which I probably won’t post here, but I am kind of dying to share it, as birthing a baby is one of those amazing/insane/wholly unique experiences.)
But as much as I love and welcome this new baby into my life, this post is actually more about the other two guys in my life. Let’s start with Matt. You all remember the “Teddy, Ages 0-1” video Matt made and that we posted last year, right? Well, Matt’s done it again! Of course, this time it’s: “Teddy, Ages 1-2.” (I don’t want to play spoiler, but it ends with a special guest appearance.)
For the most part, I feel like I keep a fairly self-deprecating tone on this blog (and in real life), but I would like to take a moment to earnestly and publicly say that I am so effing grateful for this family Matt and I’ve created. Remember when I told you about how I went to a book club that had read my book and was so surprised to see my life as viewed through other people’s eyes and how one person was annoyed by how incredibly perfect Matt was and I was so surprised because, while I obviously love Matt, I didn’t exactly see him as “perfect.” Well, I take it back! I see what that reader was saying. He IS perfect.* And he helped me create two perfect boys! And as I type this, he is putting away a pile of clean laundry that is taller than Teddy. And he has perfectly documented our first son’s second year in about two minutes of video perfection.
I’m also so grateful that I have this site to be able to share this and all of our other projects with you.
And on that note, I gotta go breastfeed.
Postpartumly and most sincerely,
Amelia
*The next time Matt and I get in a fight, I really hope he doesn’t bring this up.

Super thrilled that we're finally both on board on the notion that I'm perfect. XOXOXOOXXOOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOOXOXOXOXOX
How sweet! I've been a blog fan for a while and am currently reading your book and really enjoying it. Congratulations to your family!
Haha - Matt's comment.
This new video got me at the end. Full on tears welled up in my eyes. And I don't know if I speak for anyone else when saying this, but I'd love to hear a birth story! Your writing is wonderful and I've loved following along all these years. Congratulations!
Teddy was walking at NINE MONTHS?? Bless you. We just had our second baby at the end of October, right before my husband's (Isaac) birthday. He did not get his cake until three weeks later :). And I know what you mean about the birth story! I just write Avery's and want to shout about it because it was just so beautiful. Congrats on birthing another tiny human, and I wish you lots of baby snuggles, chocolate things, and crappy tv during this postpartum blissed out time!
Also, aren't you just dying over how sweet the bugs are with the littles?!?!? My heart just exploded!
I second the motion to have you post your birth story here! I love the relatability and authenticity of your writing (case in point: family drama over the holidays) - reasons your posts are the ones I look forward to the most regardless of any associated food or recipe content (although I certainly enjoy those as well). Basically, write whatever you want, and I will read it happily.
Congratulations on baby Isaac and happy belated birthday Teddy! <3
Congratulations!! I am glad you have this space to share your stories too :) love love LOVED the video! x
So... I made the mistake of commenting before watching the second video. SO MAGICAL! Loved it. Matt, you are immensely talented- to be able to capture the essence of Teddy's personality over the course of a year through the little snippets and weave them together in such a way... and in barely over 2mins at that! Ahhh. I loved the guest appearance by Mavis and of course baby brother at the end.
Conclusion: Amelia, more writing! Matt, more videos! Together, you are an unstoppable duo.
Brought a tear to my eye those moments where the brothers lock eyes. So beautiful. Congrats for the amazing family you've all created.
Oh wow! The ending made me cry for joy to see big brother gazing at his new sibling, thanks for sharing your life and family with us!
The ending of the new video...ahhhhhh! Brought tears to my eyes. WELL DONE, Matt!! Love you BOTH!
Such lovely videos! Congratulations on your new arrival and your beautiful, loving family.
Beautiful video, beautiful family.
Gahhhhh I'd love to read the birth story - wherever you post it! I love the video. Reminds me to (re)start using my camera's video function. There's just nothing like it.
A giant congratulations on number 2!
Matt your video made me smile ear to ear the entire time.
My oldest just had her son in Nov. and my first grandkid! Exciting times.
Maybe you will see each other walking the babes in the neighborhood.
that video brought tears to my eyes - the last part with the two of them is the very sweetest. congratulations to your wonderful family!
Don't know how long it took to get the shots of the brothers, but Teddys' expressions are priceless. He's too young to be so gentle & loving.
Great job Mom & Dad!
happy tears! Congratulations. I'm just finally reading your book and super inspired to cook. Thank you Amelia and Matt for sharing your life with the interwebs, we're all glad you did. Best wishes to the newly minted family of 4. I have two boys and its the best. Yay!
I don't know about Matt, but wow! Teddy and Isaac are certainly perfect! I noticed that the Teddy 0-1 video has over 1 million views. I think I may be a good chunk of those. Just so sweet. Congratulations! Wishing your family abundant health and happiness
:D tears in the eyes after watching this gorgeous baby and his new brother. Congratulations, Amelia and The Perfect Matt!
Brought tears to my eyes! This video made my womb ache, and I already HAVE a baby.
Thanks for sharing another slice of that goofy little dude's joy with your readers! Teddy's smiles are contagious. They're both beautiful kids, and congrats to you and Matt!
Ohhhhh you guys!! You did it. This video is incredible. Obviously love the zoo clips, and the ending goes without saying...so happy to know your perfectly suited crew is out there! Xoxo
THANK YOU, GUYS!!!
Tearing up over here! Congrats!
Man oh man I am crying my eyes out! I cannot even handle the end of the year 1-2 video and Teddy holding hands with Isaac and snuggling him... gahhhhh! I love your little family - thanks for sharing them with us. Sending you love and hopes that your nipples will soon be much less tender (my little fella is 4 months and the sore boobs (and sore other parts farther south, ahem ahem) of newbornhood are a not-so-distant memory!).
This video swells my heart up with so much love! I'm over here beaming at Teddy like he's my own child; my cheeks hurt from smiling! Your family is beautiful and I'm so happy you are all together! Hugs!!
