Hi. My name is Amelia. This blog is a collection of my culinary (and otherwise) attempts.
The above photo of me is actually a screenshot of an interview I did for a South Korean news station. They were much more interested in my son, Teddy, than me or this blog, but I like the image all the same. In it, Teddy is holding onto our TV remote even though there is no TV anywhere nearby where we're sitting. (At one point during Teddy's peak fascination with remote controls, we thought we'd lost that one for good. We tore the house up looking for it more than a few times to no avail. Eventually, it turned up some three weeks later. Where was it? We still don't know! Our babysitter found it and left it out on our bedroom dresser and the next time we saw her, we forgot to ask her about it.)
Matt graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. His day job includes shooting, directing, and editing commercial photo and video content for a wide variety of brands, including: Nokia, Ubisoft, Walmart, Colgate, Allegra, Hachette, and Esquire Magazine. Additionally, he's created book trailers for Bon Appetempt: A Coming of Age Story (With Recipes!) and The Gold Standard: Rules to Rule By. Matt's photography has been featured in national magazines and websites, including: Elle, West Elm, Refinery 29, Apartment Therapy, Gourmet Live, Saveur, Los Angeles Times, and Bon Appétit.
Matt and I produced three action-packed seasons of the Bon Appétempt web show with PBS Digital Studios and are currently delivering a biweekly cooking/parenting/chaotic show called In the Kitchen with Amelia and Teddy for Mom.me.
Also, my essay about my Kitchen Visit with my grandma won Best Culinary Essay in Saveur Magazine's 2011 Food Blog Awards. In 2012, Bon Appétempt won their Best Food Humor Blog category. My nonfiction has appeared in The McSweeney's Joke Book of Book Jokes.
My book, a food memoir titled Bon Appétempt: A Coming-of-Age Story, was published in early 2015. For more information about it and/or to read some nice things people have said about it, go here.
